Yokowo-UBE Giga Devices Co., Ltd. (President: Wasuke Yanagisawa), a joint venture
of UBE Industries, Ltd. and Yokowo Co., Ltd., has developed and started shipping
samples of unitized antenna-filter component on a single ceramic chip for use
in multiband communications for wireless LAN.
Wireless LANs today operate on a variety of standards in the world. The development
of a single antenna compatible with multiple standards is therefore an urgent
priority. The newly developed component is fitted with both an antenna and
filter that are compatible with IEEE 802.11b/a/g specifications and HyperLAN.
| The component is applicable for the following frequency bands: |
| |
Frequency band: |
2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz |
| |
|
4.9 GHz to 5.825 GHz |
In addition, Yokowo-UBE Giga Devices is establishing a framework for satisfying
diverse customer needs in accordance with the type of chips used in wireless
LANs.
| The component is applicable for the following power input terminals: |
| |
Terminal with 1 power input |
| |
|
(Common power input for both frequencies) |
| |
Terminal with 2 power inputs |
| |
|
(Separate power input for each frequency) |
The company developed the new component successfully by integrating and refining
the proprietary antenna, high-frequency circuit and high-frequency dielectric
material technologies of the two parent companies.
The bandwidth of the 5 GHz antennas currently being developed by competitors
is less than 600 MHz. However, this new product covers much wider bandwidth
of 925 MHz, 1.5 times greater, and was designed to ensure compatibility with
all frequencies, from 4.9 GHz to 5.825 GHz.
Main Features of Antenna-Filter:
(Frequency band varies with each model)
2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz
Peak gain: +1.8 to +2.0 dBi or more
Average gain: -4.5 to -4.6 dBi or more
4.9 GHz to 5.825 GHz
Peak gain: +2.7 to +3.1 dBi or more
Average gain: -4.6 to -5.5 dBi or more
The Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) at all frequencies:
up to 2.5 times
Isolation for the dual power input terminal type:
30 dB min for both frequencies
Product dimensions: (L) 8 mm x (W) 9mm x (H) 0.9 mm
Yokowo-UBE Giga Devices is working to upgrade product features further, and
plans to begin mass production in the first half of fiscal 2003. Other products
include filter elements for BT antennas, GPS antennas and the AMPS/PCS/GPS
triplexer. Samples are being shipped to mobile phone manufacturers and integrated
circuit manufacturers.
Yokowo-UBE Giga Devices is looking to develop and commercialize a range of
antenna-filters that combine the functions of these two components. Current
target is to achieve sales of approximately ¥1.0 billion by fiscal 2005.
