TOKYO, January 29, 2018 _ Ube Industries, Ltd. today announced that it will implement a global price increase for methyl ethyl ketoxime (MEKO), and will commence negotiations with customers regarding the price increase. The pricing adjustment is necessitated by continued price increases for the main ingredient, methyl ethyl ketone, and will ensure a stable supply to markets.

MEKO is one of the products of UBE's fine chemicals business, and is primarily used as an anti-skinning agent for paints and to make primers for automotive paint jobs.
Ube Industries manufactures MEKO from amine liquid, which is also used to make caprolactam. Ube Industries is the sole manufacturer of MEKO in Japan, with an annual production capacity of 6,000 tonnes from facilities in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
