TOKYO, March 30, 2018 — Ube Industries, Ltd. today issued an update regarding its investigation into improprieties in certain quality checks for low-density polyethylene manufactured at the Chiba Petrochemical Factory.
On February 23, 2018, Ube Industries issued a public statement regarding improprieties in quality checks for low-density polyethylene manufactured at the Chiba Petrochemical Factory. As detailed in the statement, Ube Industries assembled an investigation committee comprising attorneys without conflicts of interest and external directors on February 21, 2018, in order to neutrally investigate the causes of the incident and confirm the validity of preventative measures formulated by its emergency office. While the investigation committee originally expected to conclude its investigation by around the end of March 2018, the committee has since notified Ube Industries that it requires additional time to fully investigate the causes of the incident through hearing the parties concerned and verify the validity of preventative measures. At the present time, the committee expects to conclude its investigation by around the end of April 2018.
