TOKYO, November 26, 2007 _ Ube Industries, Ltd. today announced that it will open a visitor center, UBE i Plaza, to showcase the history of the Ube Group, as well as its products and technology. UBE i Plaza will open on November 27, 2007, with the opening ceremony to be held at 10 a.m., the same day.
Established as Okinoyama Coal Mine in 1897, Ube Industries has now reached its 110th anniversary. In order to commemorate this milestone, the UBE i Plaza was constructed at the Ube Head Office in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, where the company was founded and still has its largest operation site.
The exhibition space is divided into four zones. In the Corporate History Zone, visitors can learn about the development of Ube Group. In the Product and Technology Zone, there are products relating to four different industries: IT and electronics, automobiles, lifestyle products, and public infrastructure. In the Advanced Technology Zone, the group's cutting-edge technology and R&D initiatives are showcased. Finally, in the Organization and Activities Zone, visitors can see what the Ube Group is doing to help local communities through its CSR activities.
The Ube i Plaza will be open to visitors by appointment only. Those wishing to take a tour are asked to contact the company in advance (details below).
