UBE has signed contracts under the Yamaguchi Hydro 100 Plan, a component of the Yamaguchi Ishin Denki program, covering two industrial water pumping facilities in Ube City. On May 26, a ceremony was held to recognize the nine companies, including UBE, which were the first to participate in the program. Naoyoshi Shoji, Manager of Publicly-Run Enterprises for Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Shigeru Morikawa, General Manager of the Yamaguchi Regional Office for The Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc., spoke at the ceremony.
Purpose of Initiative (Objective) | The Yamaguchi Ishin Denki program promotes local electricity production and consumption by supplying users with CO2-free electricity generated by hydroelectric power stations at 12 dams in the prefecture, managed by the Yamaguchi Prefectural Bureau of Publicly-Run Enterprises. The program aims to help reduce CO2 emissions throughout the prefecture and facilitate carbon neutrality. UBE seeks to decrease its CO2 emissions by participating in this program. |
