The UBE Group exhibited at the Dream/Chemistry-21 Children’s Chemistry Experiment Show, which was held during the summer break at the Science Museum in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. The booth was run by employees from the Frontier Technology Research Laboratory of Ube Industries and the Development Department of Ube-Maruzen Polyethylene Co., Ltd. The two-day event attracted some 7,200 visitors, with approximately 200 children attending the kaleidoscope-making class.
The children first learned about the properties of polyethylene and how a polarizing plate can be used to produce polarized light, then used this knowledge to make their own kaleidoscopes.
